Volunteers’ Week 2017: You make the difference

Tell volunteers ‘you make the difference’ this Volunteers’ Week

If volunteers make a difference to your charity, community or organisation then make sure you’ve got Volunteers’ Week 1-7 June in your diary! It’s the annual campaign for you to thank your volunteers and celebrate the difference they make.

Last year there were a record breaking 900 events across the country posted on our Volunteers’ Week map and we hope that many more will be inspired by the campaign this year. From running events to sharing thank you messages on social media, we want to inspire organisations across the country to come together to let volunteers know that they make a difference and their gift of time matters.

A call to action

In our ‘you make the difference’ message this year there is also a call to action to others to think about what they can do. How can you make the difference? At NCVO we’re passionate about how, through volunteering, people can take positive action to make a difference to a cause they care about. I think this is a powerful and important message for times when we may not feel empowered or able to change things for the better.

Through volunteering we can make the difference; to individuals and communities every day, from improving the environment we live in, spending time with those who may otherwise be lonely, and contributing to a range of other essential services and support.

For many organisations Volunteers’ Week is also a chance to recruit new volunteers and showcase the range of volunteering opportunities on offer. So we also hope that it helps to inspire people to find out more about opportunities locally, take part and try volunteering for the first time.

How to get involved

NCVO will be providing all the information, guidance and resources you need to start planning and make your Volunteers’ Week a success. We are preparing a resource pack full of ideas and tips for making the most of the week, to be launched in March.

Keep up to date with plans and hear first when our resource pack is available by signing up to our Volunteers’ Week mailing list.

We will also keep you updated in our monthly volunteering round-up on the NCVO blog.

Tell us about your plans

Tell us what you’re planning by commenting on this blog post below, add your event to our event’s map or you can tweet us @NCVOvolunteers #volunteersweek.

You can also email the Volunteers’ Week team.

We can’t wait to hear about how you plan to celebrate your volunteers and how they make a difference!
