Eat Your Frog – Tip for today and 27 seconds to reinforce it

Katherine William-Powlett shares her thoughts on innovation and on leadership in the voluntary sector. Katherine no longer works for NCVO but her posts have been archived on this site for reference.

One of my colleagues arrived at work and said ‘Right I am going to eat my frog’. We all looked at her with some alarm. Sounds horrid doesn’t it. Apologies to those of a more sensitive nature.

small_tree_frog_1I am not suggesting anyone of us actually does eat a frog. It is of course a metaphor for doing that job you least want to do as soon as possible in the day and getting it out of the way. It’s common sense isn’t it, but somehow the power of the metaphor makes it stick in your mind. I think of it and act upon it almost every day.

Combine it with this short and hilarious 27 second You Tube video and you will see why you should eat your frog – if you don’t it may just eat you!
